Will this be an online-only festival?

Yes, all interactions and performances will happen over Zoom. The Festival Finale cello quartet concert will be performed live for online audiences only (with performers taking all necessary safety precautions).

Is there an age limit to participate in the festival?

Cellists of all ages are welcome to apply. If accepted, cellists will be able to participate in online performance classes, workshops, and private lessons. Participants will also be nominated by the Boulder Cello Festival faculty to perform in guest artist masterclasses.

How are participants selected to perform in the guest artist masterclasses?

Participants will be nominated to perform in the guest artist masterclasses by the Boulder Cello Festival faculty based on application videos.

Can I observe without participating?

Absolutely! An All-Access Pass includes access to observe lessons, workshops, masterclasses, and performances over the course of the festival. All-access passes and Colorado Cello Quartet tickets can be purchased under Tickets.

What materials do I need in order to apply?

Fill out our online application form & pay the application fee ($35). If accepted, the application fee will be applied toward tuition, and applicants that are not accepted as participants will have their application fees refunded if they purchase an auditor All-Access Pass. As part of the application form, you will need to upload link(s) for a recent video recording (recorded within the last year) of two contrasting works or movements.

Are complete movements/works required for the application?

As part of the application form, you will need to upload link(s) for a recent video recording (recorded within the last year) of two contrasting works or movements. Complete works or movements are preferred if possible, but excerpts are acceptable if circumstances will not allow for complete movements/works.

What if I am not in the Mountain Time Zone?

No problem! Lesson scheduling is flexible, and we have tried to schedule all group classes and concerts during times that will work across many time zones. All events will be broadcast live, and masterclasses & concerts will also be recorded and uploaded for later viewing.

Do you provide tuition scholarships?

Yes! There are a limited number of scholarships available.
